Something changes when food becomes alive again.
Watching. Waiting. Learning. Caring. Harvesting. Succeeding. Trying again.

Grow food. Connect with nature.
Know how to grow.
Grow a little more independence.
A compact living food system designed for everyday spaces.
Farmwall Pocket brings together water, aquatic life, beneficial biology, plants and fresh food in one compact living system.
Instead of experiencing food only at the end of the supply chain, watch part of the growing process happen right in front of you.
Aquatic life and beneficial biology are part of the system.
Microgreens, seedlings and plants within reach.
Water, biology and plants in the everyday environment.
Fish, water, roots and plants — all visible, all connected.

Water moves between the aquatic ecosystem and the growing area.

Beneficial biology is part of the relationship between aquatic life and plants.

Growing positions sit above the water, so roots and life below stay connected.

Enjoy what you grew, then begin the next cycle.

Only 30 cm deep. Aquarium: 300 × 300 × 400 mm externally. Operating water volume: 30 L.
Pocket isn’t simply something you install. It becomes something you check. Something you care for. Something you watch change. And something you can eventually harvest.
These are real Farmwall systems in real everyday spaces — not renders.

What’s growing right now

Fresh living greens within reach.
Plants, water and aquatic life become part of your everyday environment.
See relationships normally hidden from us.
Practise, notice and improve each time you grow.
OBSERVE. CARE. GROW. HARVEST. START AGAIN.
Most of us experience food only at the end of its journey.
It has already been grown. Harvested. Packed. Transported. Priced. And placed on a shelf.
Pocket lets you experience the beginning.
You won’t grow everything you eat. That’s not the point.
But you’ll understand a little more about where food comes from — and build the confidence to grow something yourself.
BRING A SMALL PIECE OF THE FOOD SYSTEM HOME.Pocket gives you somewhere to start.
Observe. Grow. Learn. Harvest. Try again.
Growing food is a skill. Like cooking. Riding a bicycle. Making something with your hands.
You don’t have to become self-sufficient. You just have to start.

Watching. Waiting. Learning. Caring. Harvesting. Succeeding. Trying again.

Historical participant research from Farmwall’s 2020 Resilience Growing program. Mid-program wellbeing survey, n=59. These results describe participant experiences in that program and are not clinical claims or a guarantee of outcomes from the current Pocket.
One of the things Farmwall learned was that people valued watching their food grow. The daily interaction mattered. Checking the seedlings. Watching the ecosystem. Seeing something change. Then harvesting what they had grown.
Real Farmwall systems, photographed in the everyday spaces where people grow with them.

“I love the feeling of success when the seeds germinate and I end up with healthy greens to add to my meals.”
“I didn’t expect to be so excited… It’s definitely a feature of the home.”
“It feels great to see seedlings growing, a sense of accomplishment.”
“Amazing Kit! This just takes all the hassle out.”
“Great! Empowered and positive.”
“Focused and proud.”
When COVID disrupted Farmwall’s work in buildings, the team explored bringing urban farming into people’s homes — learning about growing behaviour, barriers, design and the customer experience.
People’s daily interactions with living food systems shaped what came next.
A compact living food system shaped by years of learning about how people interact with food, nature and growing indoors. Today’s Pocket is not the same physical system used in 2020.

Most of us depend on food systems we rarely see. Pocket doesn’t replace the supermarket. It doesn’t make a household self-sufficient.
Instead, it brings one small part of food production back within reach. Grow it. Watch it. Harvest it. Start again.

A bicycle isn’t valuable only because of the kilometres you ride today. A garden isn’t valuable only because of the dollars of food it produces. And Pocket isn’t simply about the microgreens you harvest — it helps you understand how food grows, practise growing and keep a small piece of food production close to home.
